Anybody Want to Cover This Live on Their Weblog?

On my calendar for May:

U.C. Davis History Department - Schedule of Events: Colloquium on Blogging and Scholarship: Date: Wednesday, May 23, 2007: Time: 12:00 PM: Information: Colloquium on Blogging and Scholarship, May 23, 12:10, Andrews Room, with Tedra Osell, Scott Eric Kaufman, and Brad DeLong...

I don't know what I am going to say. I'm tempted to try a comparison of four intellectuals at four different moments in western print-culture: William of Occam, Niccolo Machiavelli, Adam Smith, and Tyler Cowen.

What do they have in common ?

Was William of Occam the founder of the ancient and hermetic order of the Shrill ?

I'm speculating, but I would posit that Tyler Cowen's razor is a Gillette.

Please sir, can we have some links? We are but poor graduate students ... and even though "we" don't study Dickens, we're worthy of the possibility that some of your multitudes might click on my site, desire a book, and give me $0.16 more cents than I'd otherwise have. (Welcome to the graduate student tightrope! "Enjoy" the ride!)

Somebody was comparing blogging and pamphleteering here:

Perhaps people like Marx or Thomas Paine who had influence on later thinking and events (then and later) may be interesting choices. With a broader definition of blogging, may be people like Krugman can be considered. Some bloggers, partcularly American, seem to respond to Tyler Cowen. Are there any ideas of his which influenced the current thinking or events any more than those of Krugman or Easterly or Sachs?

Who the hell is Tyler Cowen?

Tyler Cowen can be found by Googling "Tyler Cowen" or by directing your browser to http://www.marginalrevolution.com/.

I am not going to cover it live but it sounds worth a listen.
