Galaxy Quest was a sweet movie. And, Sigourney was never hotter than in that film. The star, however, was Goblin Valley-- gorgeous Utah rocks. Don't go there. It's too precious.

"Alien" was the scariest movie I've ever seen. By the time it was over I was practically hiding under my seat. Nearly 30 years after it was released, I still haven't gotten the nerve up to watch again.
"Aliens," on the other hand, was a huge letdown. For example, when the soldiers learn they can't use their weapons inside the colony because they might set off a nuclear explosion, what do they do? They keep going! Why of course! Add to that the standard cross-cultural band of soldiers which was already a cliche forty years before, and the trite feminist message (see: Sam Goldyn), and you have a recipe for stupidity.

Hah. I would go much farther back nostalgia-wise, to _The Year of Living Dangerously_, a serious movie when young Sigourney Weaver had not yet become a hyped-up Alien killer and young Mel Gibson had yet to turn psychotic. Also one of the only english language movies which looked at the plight of Indonesia, a country that deserved much more attention and help than it got.
