Bush: "We Have Not Succeeded [in Iraq] as Fast as I Wanted to Succeed"

Hoisted from Comments: Nothing Can Replace Fafblog!

But Alter Ego comes very close:

My Alter Ego Speaks: S = r * t: In his joint press conference with Tony Blair yesterday, President Bush was asked whether he was capable of admitting his past failures with regard to the Iraq war. In response he stated "I do know that we have not succeeded as fast as we wanted to succeed," and went on to say "I thought we would succeed quicker than we did, and I am disappointed by the pace of success."

Brilliant! Sheer genius! I tip my hat to the master of rhetoric behind these words! By applying this approach to my problems and those of the people in my life, I am able to see the world in a much more positive light. For example:

  • I am disappointed by the pace at which I am winning the powerball lottery.
  • [Censored: this is a family weblog.]
  • My nephew who dropped out of high school and is now dealing crystal meth? We are all disappointed by the rate at which he is finishing his doctoral dissertation.
  • My plan to grow wings and antlers is slightly behind schedule.

There now, I feel better already!

My plan to grow a prehensile tail is much more sound than his plan to grow wings and antlers. But it too is slightly behind schedule.

Remove George W. Bush from office. Do it now.

And no Republican has any business running for office or supporting anybody running for office--not today, and not for a long time to come.

No; I am not amused and not pleased and not satisfied by the Democratic candidates for President.

I want a candidate who will pledge to leave Iraq immediately an completely. That is what matter to me. I want the nightmareo of Iraq to end. I do not want another $200 billion in direct spending on the needless insanity of Iraq, nor the $17 billion in addition which will be asked for tomorrow for armored vehicles.

We must leave Iraq immediately and completely.

I am no longer interested in the fun of strange Presidential systax; I want us out of Iraq immediately and completely, and may well not vote for President or any other national office unless a candidate pledges just this.

anne, You need not wait any longer!

I can only echo a commenter at Alter Ego: I am very disappointed at the pace of President Bush's impeachment.

I originally meant to add that the only real modern exemplar is Nixon since Clinton's impeachment was clearly aberrational but time and events have forced me to view the latter as symptomatic, an indicator of America's descent into right-wing authoritarian psychosis.

Why do you want to have a tail? They are so much bother, and all your pants will have to become custom made to accommodate your tail.

anne:
I would recommend Richardson, he wants us out of Iraq, perhaps not instantaneously, but he wants to do it within months.

As to Bush not succeeding as quickly as hoped. This must mean Halliburtons profits have been lower than planned for. Certainly the Oil majors haven't been able to make the killing they were planning to either. So yes the pace has been disapointing.

Anne ...

Unfortunately, it appears that our "ruling elite" regardless of "party" has reached something of a consensus that it is now time to go for the oil, if not for possession then for control.

bigTom ...

Everything I hear re Bill Richardson leads me to conclude that the Demo ticket MUST be Clinton/Richardson. Already locked in. This gives all the geographic/ethnic/gender balance one could desire.

Bill Richardson, Vice President of the United States of America. Sounds good to me.

I should have gotten the Billmon T shirt while they were available. In the age of over abundance, it was one thing that ran out too early.

"I originally meant to add that the only real modern exemplar is Nixon since Clinton's impeachment was clearly aberrational but time and events have forced me to view the latter as symptomatic, an indicator of America's descent into right-wing authoritarian psychosis."

Absolutely. Any future Democrat elected President facing a rethuglican House must expect Articles of Impeachment on the day after he takes the Oath of office.

Actually, that reminds me of nothing so much as this phrase in Hirohito's surrender speech to Japan: "the war has not progressed entirely as we would have wished".

Alas, too, the plan to impeach Bush is running slightly behind schedule.

Ahh, Fafblog, what happy memories...

We miss you Fafnir, Medium Lobster and even Giblets (as demanding as you were).

I'm still kind of worried whether the fafauthor(s) is/are OK.

Don't kid yourself about the Democrats. None of the candidates will commit to getting us out of Iraq by 2013. And Gates today said we must have a "long term" presence in Iraq. In short, Iraq is to be made into a US puppet colony in the Middle East the better to control any "upstart" (ie independent) Muslim nation in the area and protect our 51st state of Israel. And both the Democrats and the GOP will follow that policy. We're stuck and only a complete financial collapse of the US could begin to get us out.

"The thing that worries me is your optimism."

The Bush Administration plan to get Brad deLong fired are not succeeding as rapidly as they once were.

Whatever happened to those people who responded whenever "Impeach Bush. Impeach Cheney. Do it now." appeared on this blog? I SO miss that comedy routine.

"Any future Democrat elected President facing a rethuglican House must expect Articles of Impeachment on the day after he takes the Oath of office."

Never forget third grade playground etiquette: you punched me in the shoulder so I get to punch you in the shoulder before you can punch me again.
