Rilo Kiley: Silver Lining

Very much worth listening to:

Rilo Kiley: Silver Lining.

Perhaps the most interesting thing is that I would never have heard of them had I not, bored, picked up the Elvis Costello "Music that Matters to Me" CD at Starbucks.

rabbit fur coat. even better than rilo

Jenny Lewis + Watson Twins, as well as Rilo Kiley are great, but I found them by a different path:

1. your friendly college/public music radio station or metacritic.com (or some other critical review aggregator) for album ratings
2. get music files with torrents + music blogs + your friends
3. then support the artists you appreciate, by interacting with them directly, by buying their records and merchandise, and going to shows, so that you can avoid feeding the RIAA legal machine and instead direct a greater share of your entertainment dollars to the actual artists who create the artistic work

Some people doubt (3) is carried out in sufficient quantities to support our creative artists, but I think market experiments such as Radiohead's most recent album and Prince and others strongly suggest otherwise.

I hate to be that guy that always says that their older albums were better, but...their older albums were better. Mind-blowingly good, in fact. Forget about "Under the Black Light" and get a copy of "More Adventurous" and "Takeoffs and Landings."

Agreed mostly with Mr. Webster save his choice of which older albums. Forget both "Under the Black Light" and most of "More Adventurous"; and grab "Takeoffs and Landings" along with "The Execution of All Things".

The guitar lick is very "My Sweet Lord." But perhaps that's appropriate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Sweet_Lord#Legal_controversy
