This is probably why McCain and his Veep pick Sarah Palin have flown down to Mississippi to monitor preparations. Consider how images of McCain and Palin helping evacuees or victims of Gustav will be used to make him appear engaged and "presidential." I'm no McCain supporter, but I know elections are all about semiotic competitions like this.
