The President of Paraguay Draws the Line...

First, McCain won't meet with the President of Iran.

Next, McCain won't meet with the President of Spain.

Now Fernando Lugo, the President of Paraguay, has had enough:

Steve Clemons: Paraguay President Fernando Lugo... the room went silent and then broke into subdued laughter when he confided that he was approached about meeting with GOP Vice Presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. President Lugo turned the meeting down...

Now the claim is that John McCain misheard and has added Uruguay to the list of countries whose president he will refuse to meet.

In McCain's defense, as far as I know there's no such office as President of Spain.

[Presidente del Gubernio--"President of the Government," usually translated into English as "Prime Minister."

He must be in on the conspiracy to shame a great woman and the courageous man who chose her to be his running mate!

In Uruguay, THEIR President doesn't meet YOU!

As my girlfriend (from Uruguay) points out, if pressed, McCain probably wouldn't want to meet with Uruguay's president as he is a socialist. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Brad's comment about Uruguay is meant as a joke. If it's not, and McCain really did put Uruguay on his shit-list, he'd lose relations with the one America-neutral, stable and non-corrupt country in the region.

I don't get it. The link is about the president of paraguay. Where's the link to the story about McCain snubbing uruguay? Why are people talking about uruguay anyway?

Did I miss the joke?
