And not one of these metaphorical 'haircuts' that everybody's talking about these days, but a *literal* haircut.

How old-fashioned!

So I may be wrong on this, but I guess that the truly rare event here is not the haircut, but the wearing of white tie formal wear. :-)

Is that his wife, Robin Wells, behind him? She's great looking. In all honesty, I've never seen a picture of her.

J:

no, it's Princess Madeline of Sweden.

Princess Madeleine. The camera appears not focused on Paul Krugman's haircut. The picture, apparently taken from Swedish tv, is a sound argument for monarchy. Or could be the intro for a new ABBA video. Whichever.

It looked like they were handing out the Swedish Idol awards at the same time as the Nobel Prize.

Some years ago they modernized and ended their sexist laws of succession, which means that Princess Madeline is the Crown Princess, who will one day be doing the handing out officially of the Nobels, when her father, Karl Gustav XVI, is no longer in office to do so. In the meantime, she gets to add the glamor.

wow... Princess Madeleine makes me want to win a Nobel...

So he used the occasion to leave his wife for a Scandinavian princess? Well played, Mr. Krugman. Well played.

Eh...Barkley...no. Princess Victoria is the Crown Princess.

Paul Krugman is in that photo? Where?

ogmb,

I stand corrected. You are right. However, I have read that the law of succession was only changed since the current King Karl Gustav XVI came to power.
