Richard Green: Bob Shiller Made Me Want To Become An Academic:
I went to graduate school in economics thinking… [of] economics as an applied field…. Then I took a series of courses from William Brock… early on in the first… he assigned “Do Stock Prices Move Too Much to be Justified by Subsequent Changes in Dividends?” by a young professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Robert Shiller. The paper was brilliant… important to me as a student, because it showed me that economics could study how people actually behave, rather than how economics predicts they should behave. As such, it showed me the relevance of academic economic research. It changed my life.
