Web Assignment 4: George Orwell's Dilemmas
In The Road to Wigan Pier, George Orwell argues that socialism is necessary: that the old capitalist system is too broken and too inhumane to be allowed to continue. In Homage to Catalonia, George Orwell finds out that the varieties of really existing socialism on display are also to broken and too inhumane to be tolerated. And the third option in the 1930s--fascism--is even worse.
