British Conservative Party Leader David Cameron Says U.S. Republicans Are Bats--- Insane

UK defends its healthcare: The fractious British political classes have united in defence of the UK’s healthcare system after it has become a byword for the failings of universal, state-funded provision among the US Republican right. Gordon Brown, prime minister, and David Cameron, leader of the Conservative opposition party, on Friday both declared their commitment to the National Health Service. The US right has used the NHS as an example of the potential pitfalls facing President Barack Obama as he tries to push through a healthcare reform bill....

Mr Cameron, who leads the Conservative party... described the NHS as one of the UK’s “great national institutions” and said the service was his “number one priority”. The comments came just hours after Mr Brown issued a heartfelt defence of the NHS using Twitter.... “NHS often makes the difference between pain and comfort, despair and hope, life and death. Thanks for always being there.” The messages of support have extra poignancy because both political leaders have lost young children to illness and Mr Brown has a son with cystic fibrosis....

The row has also dragged in Stephen Hawking, the famous physicist who has been confined to a wheelchair for decades. Investor’s Business Daily, a US newspaper, printed an editorial that the scientist “wouldn’t have a chance in the UK” because the NHS would have considered him “worthless” due to his physical handicaps. Professor Hawking has retaliated, saying: “I would not be here today if not for the NHS.”

Can we please have a very different party to oppose the Democrats? A very different party than the Republican Party, please.
