Dear Sections 102 and 103,
This Monday we will discuss in class Keynes's Economic Consequences of Peace, chapters 1 and 2 from Eichengreen's Globalizing Capital as well as the Prologue and Chapter 1 from Frieden's Global Capitalism. Please make sure to prepare the readings well for discussion.
As all of you know, the midterm is in a week. You are responsible for all the readings assigned in the syllabus up to the midterm date, even those that we have not covered due to the Labor Holiday. You are also required to know very well the table of 100 economic history facts posted on the course website, and the techniques requested in the growth-accounting and trade problem sets.
On Monday, I plan to give a quiz for the first 20 minutes of section. It will be a pre-midterm exercise, so please make sure to show up.
For the problem set of this week, productivity is always measured per capita.
Thanks a lot,
Aris
